What I Offer

Nutrition Services

My areas of expertise include:
Sports Nutrition, Digestive Health, and Intuitive Eating.

I love my work.
Most, but not all, of my clients are athletes.

Empowering fitness lovers of all ages to be able to thrive at their highest level is incredibly rewarding.

Individual Counseling

You may be wondering:

“What does a dietitian do?”

Great question!

Our one-on-one sessions together are all about fine-tuning your nutrition plan so that you feel your very best.

Our work together takes into account your medical and health history, a review of available bloodwork, a general evaluation of what is working and what needs help with your current dietary pattern, and a discussion of your desired goals.

You’ll leave each session with a specific goal to work on so that you feel excited and empowered to keep making progress.

What about weight loss?

I understand that changing your body composition may be your goal, but I will always encourage you to prioritize your physical and emotional health and your athletic performance over body composition change.

Sports Nutrition

I’m a lifelong athlete and am happiest when I get in a good sweat session most days.

I did my first triathlon in 1999 and have been absolutely hooked ever since. As of today, I have 8 Half Ironman races, a marathon, and a full Ironman under my belt – along with a big mix of sprint and Olympic triathlons and half marathons.

With my professional training and extensive personal real-life experience, I am confident that I’ll be able to help you fuel your best for your sport!

Services I offer include:

  • Fueling for Performance, Recovery and Injury Prevention
  • Race Day Nutrition and Hydration Plans
  • Diet analysis
  • Optimal timing and composition of meals and snacks
  • Screening for Nutrition Deficiencies
  • Body Composition Analysis
  • Genetic Testing

      Intuitive Eating

      What is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive Eating is all about learning to tune into your own body’s hunger and fullness cues instead of listening to what an app says. It’s about building trust with your body instead of sabotaging her wisdom and listening to an app.
Unfortunately, in our fad-diet world, this is easier said than done.

I have been a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor since 2012 and enjoy helping my clients break up with dieting and find food freedom. Intuitive Eating is not a fad; it’s backed up by more than 200 studies as a path toward real and lasting health and better body image.

Read more about the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating, to see if it feels like the right approach for you.

Please note: although Intuitive Eating may sound very appealing, it may not be right for you if you have a newly diagnosed eating disorder. Initially, you may need more structured support to start healing. You and your therapist can decide when Intuitive Eating is an appropriate step in your recovery.

      Public Speaking

I love speaking to sports teams and groups. I have worked with triathlon teams, swim teams, lacrosse teams, tennis teams, runners, and dancers, just to name a few.

It takes hundreds of hours of practice to make a team successful, and all those team members need to have the proper gas in the tank to perform their best. When all of your teammates have the tools to fuel and recover properly, you can look forward to your most winning season yet.

Team presentations will cover myths and facts about proper sport-specific fueling. Athletes will leave the presentation with clear goals on how to meet their nutritional needs for training and competition, with easy meal and snack ideas to make it happen.

      Genetic DNA Testing

      by Nutrigenomix

Did you know that your unique genes can influence how you train, perform, focus, and recover?

While you can’t change your genes, with genetic testing, we can develop the most personalized plan that suits your DNA.

      So don’t guess, TEST!

Nutrigenomics is the study of how individual genetic variation affects a person’s response to nutrients and impacts the risk of nutrition-related chronic diseases.

Your individual genetic variations can affect how your body responds to the food, beverages, and supplements that you consume.

Learn how your genes can influence:
      ● Recovery
      ● Injury risk
      ● Motivation
      ● Metabolism
      ● Mental Focus
      ● Eating Habits
      ● Pain Tolerance
      ● Aerobic Capacity
      ● Food Intolerances
      ● Body Composition
      ● Nutrient Requirements
      ● Exercise Performance

      Seca Precision Body Composition Analysis

You need more data than just the number on the scale.
Seca BIA solutions provides a detailed and accurate analysis of your body fat, muscle mass, body water, and many other parameters by using bioimpedance analysis (BIA).

      What’s the benefit to you?

A BIA assessment is a non-invasive, easy-to-use, and precise approach for body composition measurements that can track progress of your health and fitness goals.

If body composition change is a desired goal, ongoing monitoring can determine whether your nutrition program is optimized to preserve lean body mass and prevent injury in your season.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Learn How it Works!

      How much will it cost?

A 1-hour initial consultation is $150, and follow-up appointments are $75-$112, depending on the length of the session.

In Pennsylvania, many healthcare plans cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) with no out-of-pocket costs, if your deductible has been met.

However, every individual insurance plan varies greatly, so please check with your individual plan on coverage specifics.

I am not a Medicare provider, as they do not cover nutrition counseling for my specialty areas.

      What does a dietitian do?

At your initial consultation, I will review your medical history, lab values (if available) as well as your dieting history.

We will talk about your current schedule and set realistic, achievable goals that fit with your lifestyle.

I will provide you with recipes and meal ideas to support your goals, and provide access to meal logging software, should you choose this option.

      What is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive Eating is an evidenced-based, mind-body health approach, comprised of 10 Principles and created by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995.

It is a weight-neutral model with a validated assessment scale and over 90 studies to date (Tribole 2017).

Essentially, Intuitive Eating is a personal process of honoring health by listening and responding to the direct messages of the body in order to meet your physical and psychological needs.

Please note: although Intuitive Eating may sound very appealing, it may not be right for you if you have a newly diagnosed eating disorder.
Initially, you may need more structured support to start healing. You and your therapist can decide when Intuitive Eating is an appropriate step in your recovery.

      Where are you located?

We provide guidance to individuals located within the central Pennsylvania region.

However, we can also help clients in Maryland via telehealth services.

Is Intuitive Eating right for me?

Yes! Intuitive Eating is right for everyone, but you need to be ready to let go of dieting and embrace what is already inside of you.

Can you just tell me what to eat?

      This is a trick question.

Of course I can just tell you what to eat, but that would be boring and essentially another form of a diet.

I would rather spend our time together working on ways to get you enjoying the foods you love in ways that feel good and in line with your health goals.

I can provide meal ideas and recipes to support these goals, but I rarely take pleasure in telling anyone exactly what to eat!

      Can you recommend dietary supplements?

I will assess your current eating for any nutrition gaps that exist.

I will always try to meet dietary needs with food first, but if that isn’t possible, I can certainly recommend supplements.
